Heat exchanger (Armfield PCT13)

The Armfield PCT13 is a miniature plate heat exchanger. It operates in conjunction with the PCT10 supply console. The primary fluid circuit consists of the heat exchanger, heating reservoir, circulating pump, flowmeter, manual control valve and motorised control valve. Water in the secondary circuit enters the heat exchanger from an external supply through a manual control valve and a flowmeter.
Multivariable process behaviour and control can be studied with this pilot plant since cross interactions of process variables are inherent. However, the plant is commonly used in univariable mode of operation where its behaviour distinctly varies from one operating point to another and therefore exhibits nonlinear characteristics over the whole operating range.
